Life is like a piano.
What you get out of it depends on how you play it.
Leeroy learn to play piano with “do re mi fa so la ti do” keys on digital piano.
When Leeroy told us that he would like to learn piano, a number of things flashed across Dad’s mind:
“A normal piano would take up considerable amount of space, need special movers to transport and can be quite costly to maintain and learn.”
“What if Leeroy learns for a couple of months and decide not to continue learning the piano.”
“I am an advocate of self-learning whenever possible, but Leeroy may be too young to learn piano by himself (Both Dad and Mum does not know anything about piano except that it can produce beautiful music ;).”
After moments of silence, Dad said “Leeroy, are you very sure that you are keen to learn piano and discipline enough to self-practice and self-learn by yourself?”
Leeroy replied back without hesitation, “Yes, Dad!”
Upon hearing Leeroy’s firm reply, Dad went to his laptop to do some research on piano price, weight, maintenance etc.
After hours of reading and googling, Dad smiled and discussed with Mum on his findings.
“Instead of buying a normal piano which costs thousands, need special transport and requires yearly maintenance, why not buy a used 88 keys digital piano for less than $300 instead?”
Mum replied, “That sounds like a good idea, we can move the digital piano easy around the house if required and there’s no need for yearly piano tuning. Let’s do that!”
So off we proceed to purchase a used piano.
Look at Leeroy’s big smile when the 88 Keys digital piano arrived.
For those of you who have sharp eyes, you would have noticed that the digital piano came default with black and white keys, in contrast to those colorful keys seen at the 1st picture.
Well, the credit goes to Dad who purchased those colorful removable piano stickers and made the keyboard more vibrant and easier for kids learning.
As with any learning, we all start with the basics, the following is Leeroy’s attempt at “do re mi fa so la ti do”.
Well done, Leeroy!
Keep on learning and practicing, Dad and Mum will keep track of your growth and progress.
The best way to get things done is to simply begin.
