Bones
– Bones are alive.
– When you break one, it can repair itself.
– Tibia is one of the bones in the bottom half of the leg.
Bones grow
– When you are growing, your bones are growing too.
– When we are babies, we have little bones that are mostly make up of cartilage.
– When we got bigger, the cartilage turns into bones and our bones got bigger too.
– Bones will keep growing until we are about 26 years old.
How does cartilage feels like?
– Cartilage feels kind of like rubber.
– You can touch the end of your nose or top of your ears to feel how cartilage feels like.
Joint
– The place when 2 bones meet is known as joint.
– When the bones are right next to each other, they have cartilage on them.
– The cartilage acts like a cushion to protect the bones.
– Without joints, we could not move.
Fun fact:
– One of the largest bones ever discovered is a 6ft long leg bone.
– It belongs to an enormous dinosaur known as Dreadnoughtus.
– Dreadnoughtus was as long as 2 school buses at about 90ft long.
– Dreadnoughtus, when stretches its neck up, was as tall as 6 storey building at about 65ft tall.
