What is Cloud?
– Cloud is made out of an invisible gas known as water vapour, which is all around us.
– When the water vapour turn cold enough, they turn into tiny drops of water or ice that float in the air to form cloud.
What are the types of Clouds?
Cumulus Clouds
– Looks like puffy white cotton balls high in the sky.
– Usually means the weather is not going to rain.
Cirrus Clouds
– Wispy clouds way up high in the sky, where the air is very cold.
– Made of tiny particles of ice instead of water drops.
– Usually means weather is going to be clear and calm.
Fog
– Usually forms right above the ground in the morning or evening when the air is cold.
– It goes away when the sun comes our and warms the tiny water drops back to water vapour.
Stratus Clouds
– Stratus means “Layer”
– Big layers of clouds across the sky blocking out the sun.
– Often bringing rain or snow.
Cumulonimbus Clouds
– Big black clouds with flat bottoms.
– Bring thunderstorms, lightnings and even tornado or hail.
